Mie N Yu Adds Ethnic Flare to New Menu
Washington, D.C. [June 10, 2003] –
Executive Chef Tim Elliott has enhanced Washington’s “Feast
For the Senses” with a newly evolved menu at the most innovative
new restaurant in the Nation’s Capital.
Mie N Yu offers contemporary dishes from the Americas, highlighting
flavors indigenous to the ancient Silk Road, including the cultures
of Asia, the Mediterranean and Europe. Mie N Yu introduced a unique
restaurant concept to Washington, D.C., with a menu that favored
American cuisine, accented by ethnic flavors. However, after a few
months of observing their guests’ feedback, Mie N Yu is ready
to expand its culinary culture. “Our new menu reflects many
of the core ingredients that we’ve had success with since
our opening [in February 2003]. Now, in response to our guests,
we’re preparing them using styles and presentations more reflective
of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine,” says Chef Elliott.
The menu will continue to feature à la carte proteins and
a wide variety of “sense-able” side dishes for the table
to share. New twists on Mie N Yu’s most popular dishes include
the Five Spice Ahi Tuna Steak, Korean Barbecued Short Ribs, Wasabi
Crusted King Salmon, Thai Marinated Filet Mignon and Pistachio Crusted
Pork Loin. Many of Mie N Yu’s original side dishes will remain
on the menu including the acclaimed Edamame Succotash, Grilled Chinese
Eggplant and Kimchee, Peruvian Mashed Potatoes and Thai Fried Rice.
Elliott is constantly creating new selections for the adventurous
appetite. A Chef’s Tasting section has been added to the menu
featuring distinctive flavors in petite portions, similar to Spanish
tapas; and a six-course tasting menu is available during dinner.
As the driving force behind this new menu, Chef Elliott will use
his culinary talent to create flavorful dishes with an impeccable
presentation. “Now that we’ve had such great success
in our opening months, I’m ready to bring a new level of excitement
to our menu that will compliment the incredible energy and décor
of the restaurant,” says Chef Elliot.
Mie N Yu has been critically acclaimed for its exceptional décor
and atmosphere. Guests dine in rich and varied settings
from the plush daybeds and lanterns of the Turkish Tent
to the silk and brocade-lined dining nooks of the Moroccan
Bazaar. Mie N Yu’s General Manager, Oren Molovinsky,
loves seeing people come into the restaurant awestruck.
“I enjoy giving tours of the entire restaurant, it
gives me the opportunity to show our guests the true vision
Mie N Yu - Washington, D.C.’s escape from the ordinary
and a feast for the senses.”

Through their meal programs that feed the Districts homeless to their job training programs, DC Central Kitchen is a crucial organization to building a better community," says Oren Molovinsky, Mie N Yu's General Manager. "We decided not only to celebrate the first anniversary of our restaurant with a lavish celebration, but to support our community through fundraising for a worthy cause."
The Anniversary Reception will be a true "Feast for the Senses!" Guests will enter through the private, side VIP entrance reminiscent of passing into a dessert kasbah. It feels like stepping into another world after walking up the staircase illuminated by flickering candles! Mie N Yu's distinctive décor suggests a trip through the Ancient Silk Road. The Baroque Room, Venetian Room and Tibetan Lounge on the second floor provide the setting for this evening's special event. Anybody who has experienced Mie N Yu in the past year will tell you that there is no place like this in Washington DC! Each room will feature a chef individually preparing two to three tasting items accented with ingredients from Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and the Mediterranean," explains Chef Tim Elliott. His passion for food is evident and shines through in all of Mie N Yu's menus. It is only to be expected that his talent and creativity will insure that the food at this event will be delectable!
Complimenting the menu at the Anniversary Reception will be a paring of fine wine and luscious cocktails. If you have ever been to Mie N Yu's wine dinners, it is clear that matching wine with the menu is one of beverage director Dennis Asaka's strongest skills. This event will feature boutique wines, champagne / sparkling wine, an "after dinner" drink and Mie N Yu's signature martinis "paired" at each chef station. Dennis Asaka has made some stellar selections from his two hundred plus bottle wine list that will interest everyone.
Mie N Yu's Anniversary Reception will debut some entertainers that are as unique as the restaurant itself!
