Mie N Yu Adds Ethnic Flare to New Menu
Washington, D.C. [June 10, 2003] –
Executive Chef Tim Elliott has enhanced Washington’s “Feast
For the Senses” with a newly evolved menu at the most innovative
new restaurant in the Nation’s Capital.
Mie N Yu offers contemporary dishes from the Americas, highlighting
flavors indigenous to the ancient Silk Road, including the cultures
of Asia, the Mediterranean and Europe. Mie N Yu introduced a unique
restaurant concept to Washington, D.C., with a menu that favored
American cuisine, accented by ethnic flavors. However, after a few
months of observing their guests’ feedback, Mie N Yu is ready
to expand its culinary culture. “Our new menu reflects many
of the core ingredients that we’ve had success with since
our opening [in February 2003]. Now, in response to our guests,
we’re preparing them using styles and presentations more reflective
of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine,” says Chef Elliott.
The menu will continue to feature à la carte proteins and
a wide variety of “sense-able” side dishes for the table
to share. New twists on Mie N Yu’s most popular dishes include
the Five Spice Ahi Tuna Steak, Korean Barbecued Short Ribs, Wasabi
Crusted King Salmon, Thai Marinated Filet Mignon and Pistachio Crusted
Pork Loin. Many of Mie N Yu’s original side dishes will remain
on the menu including the acclaimed Edamame Succotash, Grilled Chinese
Eggplant and Kimchee, Peruvian Mashed Potatoes and Thai Fried Rice.
Elliott is constantly creating new selections for the adventurous
appetite. A Chef’s Tasting section has been added to the menu
featuring distinctive flavors in petite portions, similar to Spanish
tapas; and a six-course tasting menu is available during dinner.
As the driving force behind this new menu, Chef Elliott will use
his culinary talent to create flavorful dishes with an impeccable
presentation. “Now that we’ve had such great success
in our opening months, I’m ready to bring a new level of excitement
to our menu that will compliment the incredible energy and décor
of the restaurant,” says Chef Elliot.
Mie N Yu has been critically acclaimed for its exceptional décor
and atmosphere. Guests dine in rich and varied settings
from the plush daybeds and lanterns of the Turkish Tent
to the silk and brocade-lined dining nooks of the Moroccan
Bazaar. Mie N Yu’s General Manager, Oren Molovinsky,
loves seeing people come into the restaurant awestruck.
“I enjoy giving tours of the entire restaurant, it
gives me the opportunity to show our guests the true vision
Mie N Yu - Washington, D.C.’s escape from the ordinary
and a feast for the senses.”

The World's Revered Dining Cultures Have Come Together in Mie N Yu
February 4, 2003
Washington, DC [February 4, 2003] The world's
revered dining cultures have come together in Mie N Yu,
a provocative new restaurant that combines the flavor and
culture of the far reaches of the world in historic Georgetown.
This new concept in dining has been called Òboutique nighteryÓ
by Food Arts magazine, which refers to it as ÒÉ a new type
of eating and drinking experience - more satisfying than
a bar, less formal than a restaurant, and increasingly preferred
by diners of all ages and means.Ó
Mie N Yu guests pass through a pair of sentinels positioned
in sublime fountains. As you are welcomed into a garden
like setting your gaze is drawn to all the worlds within.
The Chinese influenced English standing bar radiates red.
The bar's focal point, a deejay sets the mood for lounging
and dining. The elevated Turkish tent, with its ornate ottomans
and cozy day beds beckons. The Moroccan street boasts fountains,
a massive iron bird cage and architectural relics creating
intimate terraced dining nooks lined in silk and brocade.
The mezzanine bar invites communal diners to mingle among
its mirrored candle-lit walls and leads you to the formal
dining room where red velvet draped walls surround magnificent
mirrored tables which reflect crystal chandeliers. The plush
Tibetan Lounge, with its discreet private entrance and its
own deejay, is perfect for special entertaining. It is available
by reservation only. As is, the chef’s table is nestled
in the top of the bird cage and offers diners a special
menu which includes all the flavors at Mie N Yu.
Corporate Executive Chef, Robert Price created the menu
with Gregory Sharpe, Director of Restaurant Operations,
who was Executive Chef at Marriott Key Bridge and at Wye
River Conference Center where he orchestrated the meals
during the renowned Middle East Peace Talks. Price was the
Specialty Restaurant Chef at Baltimore Marriott Waterfront
and Sous Chef at Wye River Conference Center.
Mie N Yu is open for lunch Wednesday through Saturday, and
for brunch on Sunday. Dinner is served seven days a week.
Mie N Yu is located at 3125 M Street, NW. For reservations
or information, please call 202/333-6122 or you may make
your reservation at www.mienyu.com.
Mie N Yu is a part of Primacy Restaurants, a division of
Primacy Companies, a Fairfax-based hospitality organization
which specializes in upscale restaurants, nightclubs and
concert venues.
